World of Ether seeks to bridge the gap between mainstream games and those on blockchain by providing a game that is as fluid, fun and intuitive as is expected by the casual gamer. You can discover, collect, battle, breed, sire and sell a variety of monsters while earning real money in the form of the Ethereum cryptocurrency.
To start in the game, you can purchase monsters from other players on the marketplace. Monsters can be as inexpensive as one US dollar or as expensive as tens of thousands of dollars.
By battling your monsters, you increase your level, allowing you to breed and use stronger and rarer monsters. Battle results cannot be manipulated and altered. You can discover new breeds of monster, and when you do you become forever credited on the blockchain as discoverer of that monster.
There are five types of monster, each with different advantages and strategies: Sun, Ocean, Life, Death, and Astral. With four grades of rarity: common, uncommon, rare, and legendary. Legendaries are extremely difficult to obtain, very powerful and valuable; few will ever encounter them.
There are discovery rewards placed on several of the monsters. If you’re first to discover the Sun legendary you get a prize of $6,000 and if you’re first to discover the Life legendary you get a prize of $11,000.
Everything in World of Ether is custom made: the soundtrack, the monsters, the graphics, etc. The game is founded by Alain Goldman, co-founder of the largest blockchain meetup in the world , and his brother, Stanley Goldman, a senior developer at GitHub.
